Once upon a time, a woman walked into the Tweede Tuindwarsstraat when suddenly she spotted a shiny spectacle. As if magic pulled her imaginary strings she was taken down the steps into this picturesque little store called Oogst. Hours, maybe days passed by, and she lost track of time. The most precious pieces were shown and the woman was embellished with lots of silver and gold. So ends this story: she collapsed under the weight of thousands of diamonds, but legend has it that she died with a smile on her face…
Welcome to the forest of expectation, where every curse turns into enchantment.
This could have been the story of my fairytale life. Alas, back to reality; jewellery isn’t for free and the store does close at some point. However, the two jewellers Lotte Porrio and Ellen Philippen are quite nice people. They’ve been working together since 2008, and their Jordaan based shop opened in March of this year.
The new collection
Their new collection is striking and actually based on a Grimm fairytale: The Old Woman in the Wood. They were inspired by a beautiful but sinister looking drawing of illustrator Arthur Rackham, and made a collection based on elements of the story and reminiscent of the drawing. All 22 pieces are different, but can very well be worn together.
Bracelet with drop shaped labradorite stones and a white gold leaf.
The whole experience has a mystical air to it. Recurring in many pieces are trees and other natural forms, keys, doves and raindrop shaped beads. Welcome to the forest of expectation, where every curse turns into enchantment.
Necklace with pink en grey moonstone, oxidized silver ornament with gold foil.
Besides the collections they also make custom made jewellery, based on customers personal taste and ideas. In their own words: ‘handmade and elegant jewellery, inspired by nature and past times’. I love what they can do, it’s the icing on the cake when it comes to completing your outfit. Don’t miss Sunday’s opening, or visit them later on and you will live happily ever after!
