Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Sonic Warfare – Black Acre Night – Fantastic Mr Fox / Dark Sky / Blue Daisy @ Melkweg

Boy oh boy, have we got something cooking in the kitchen for this weekend. To start off with, our friends at Sonic Warfare will be taking over the Melkweg together with the almighty English record label Black Acre. This label has been one of the leading protagonists of futuristic dubstep, 2-step, grime, electronica and hiphop music since 2007. For the occasion, Fantastic Mr. Fox (Jamie XX’s tourbuddy), Dark Sky (check out their new release under Modeselektor’s label ’50 weapons’) and Blue Daisy will be represented on stage; not the least of names!

So here’s the deal, we’ve got something to give away. In association with the Warfare boys, we’re offering the following package to one lucky winner:

  • Two tickets
  • 1000names CD album
  • Hyetal CD album
  • Special hand stamped white labels 12” of Blue Daisy’s Strings Detached
  • Ltd 10” of Fantastic Mr Fox’s “Sketches” EP 10” vinyl

Friday: Trentemøller (DJ set) @ Melkweg

Across the hall from Sonic Warfare, another superstar within the electronic music industry will be hitting the big room’s stage at the Melkweg. Yup, none other than Anders Trentemøller, the Danish electronic wunderkind from Copenhagen. Since his debut album ‘The Last Resort’ in 2006 he’s been producing treasures like Moan, Miss You, and the insane remix of Royksopp’s What Else Is There. His live sets are intensely dark and moving, and his DJ sets are known to be ultra-danceable. Supporting him: Pitto, TJ Kong and Roger Gerressen. See you up front.

Friday: Drukpers – Efdemin & Nick Höppner @ Trouw

Also on Friday, Trouw and Drukpers invite two great DJ/producers from Berlin. The first, Efdemin, I’ve started to appreciate more and more over the past years. The guy has some serious producing skills if you ask me, just have a listen to his extremely deep anthem ‘Bergwein‘ or his Stick to My Side remix for Pantha Du Prince. The second, Nick Höppner, is probably best known for his work forr one of techno’s most prominent and lauded labels, the Berghain/Panorama Bar-associated Ostgut Ton. An experienced connoisseur in the game of underground electronica, which reflects in the variety of his sounds. Oh man, we’re still only on friday.

Saturday: 11:11 @ Undercurrent

If you’ve got some energy left on Saturday morning, the best thing to do might be to head over to the northern part of the Dam and continue raving at 11:11, a party at Undercurrent close to the NDSM docks that starts at 11 in the morning and ends at 11 at night. Figures. Who are performing? Wouter de Moor, Eric de man & Proloog (live sax), Specker, Ici Sans Merci, Milo Moraes b2b Ille bitch, Carlos Valdes, Tommy Kornuijt and twelve other of them local DJs. Apparently, it’s the unofficial closing mini-festival of the summer. O yeah, and something about one earth and one being and forgetting about responsibilities and more of that hippie stuff. Go have fun.

Saturday: Night Flight x Boston Strip – (w/ FunkinEven) @ Club Up & De Kring

Finally, to end the weekend, you might want to consider visiting the collaboration party of Night Flight and Boston Strip. Two young and innovative party concepts combining their forces and providing us with a pretty sweet headliner: FunkinEven! Night Flight hosts Club Up with a heavy dose of house, acid, disco, wave and everything in between and Boston Strip, as always, will host De Kring with the best in house, dubstep, dancehall & UK bass. Enjoy the hangovers people!
