Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Saturday: Redevice invites Ostgut Ton @ Studio 80
When I hear Ostgut Ton I hear Berlin, underground, melodies, repetitiveness and quality DJs or producers. This Friday, two of the Ostgut Ton rock stars and Panoramabar residents hit the stages of Rembrandtplein’s Studio 80: Ryan Elliott and nd_baumecker, the first of which I’ve learnt to enjoy for the last year. Line-up support comes from a few locals you might’ve heard of: Sandrien, ONNO, Frodo and Pep. By the way, this party doesn’t ‘just’ end at 5am, the after party will be around the corner ’till around 11 in the morning, so get your energisers together.
Saturday: KOLDER @ the parking
The ingredients for this pop-up party called KOLDER are pretty simple. One stage, intimate, low prices, unique location and proper dance music provided by some serious local names such as Brent Roozendaal, Efdé, Robert Powlson, Ruben Jacobs & 5 Dollar Shake and Chris Ivan. Back to basic, as house parties used to be like back when you where listening to Aqua. Oh yeah, tickets are available at Concerto or Zuiderzeeweg 42, obviously there’s a limited amount of tickets available. There’s something about parking lots that really attracts me, there should be more of these parking lot get-togethers in town.
Saturday: Endless Summer @ Moby King & Akhnaton
Apparently, the last edition of Endless Summer was a big succes. Therefore the date was easily set to the 20th of August to party all day on a boat called Moby Dick, from 14:30 to 22:00 and beyond. Who do we listen to? Local heroes Warren Fellow, Taras van de Voorde, Ille Bitch & Dauphin, Ici Sans Merci and Tom Verstappen. But this ain’t a party on a boat with lots of tech house, booze, toilets, burgers and chillout areas. This is a boat party with a serious after party at the obscure, yet interesting club Akhnaton. It’s located in the city centre and the entrance fee is an extremely reasonable price of 5 euros. Same DJs? No, for the after we get Joey Daniel, Julien Simmons, Ab Surd & Ici Sans Merci, Kabaal and Tom Verstappen. Enjoy the afters and hangovers!
