Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Trouw aan Roosje @ Trouw

Holy cow! Cobblestone Jazz, one of my favourite acts of the last few years, is almost in town again! There’s only a handful of good ensembles around the world that can produce decent psychedelic, improvised, analogue electronic, and Matthew Johnson and his mates sure is one of them. Supported by Darko Esser and our friend Bert de Rooij, this night is the perfect kick-off for another weekend that smells like hangover. The men behind one of the coolest clubs outside of Amsterdam, Doornroosje, will be hosting The Verdieping with Brent Roozendaal, Steve Mensink, Roger Gerressen and Jocelyn Abell.

Friday: Bomb Diggy Daniel Haaksman Rambazamba Release Party @ Sugar Factory

Bomb Diggy, also known as the tropical bass connaisseurs of our country, bring you the best selections of global dance music, not if you’re into your regular berlin-music based party every other weekend, just something different. This time around, they invite one of the most important Baile funk DJ’s of the moment; Daniel Haaksman. Expect a tropical live explosion of electro mixed with Caribean rhythms à la ‘estillo perreo’. Definitely a must if you’re tired of fist pumping and feel like shaking it like a polaroid.

Saturday: Hoog water @ Moby King, Pier #4 Amsterdam CS

For the first edition of Hoog Water, Faul Productions found another unique location to throw a proper underground rave in our city. A ticket for this party stands for 8 hours of sailing and dancing around the Markermeer. This boat called Moby King offers capacity for about 600 people to shuffle to the beats of Olivier Weiter, Gideon Bouwens, Mulder and Jeff Rushin amoungst others. Seriously, if you’re not going to Melt!, Costa del Soul, Extrema Outdoor or Ruigoord Weekend, than this is the only serious option you got left.

Saturday: De Man Zonder Schaduw & Studio Barnhus @ Trouw

Also on saturday, De Man Zonder Schaduw & Studio Barnhus residents are hitting the decks at Trouw. None other than Axel Boman, Petter Nordkvist, Kornél Kovács, Reiss and Carlos Valdes fill up a decent line-up to compensate for all those festivals your friends are attending. Remember that this is one of Trouw’s last weekends before they go on a summer holiday for about a month, bear that in mind.

Sunday: Evotions presents: Cocoon on the beach @ Woodstock 69

Evotions and Cocoon have become good partners for the last few years, providing us with numerous events featuring some of the bigger names. This year, they got a whole summer planned out for all of you looking for a familiar techno party at a beach. Well, the only place that really matters is obviously Bloemendaal’s Woodstock 69. Who did they invite? Andre Galluzzi, Onur Özer, Johannes Heil (live), Dorian Paic, Arjuna Schiks (live) and Frenk Wiersma. Wicked ending to just another weekend in and around the Dam.
