Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Pleinvrees – deephouse edition 2.0 @ Club Roses
O yeah, time for another one of those legendary hangovers after this weekend. Let’s start off with our friends’ deep-house party called Pleinvrees. Just over a year ago they decided to throw a different kind of party on Queen’s Day. A year later, they’re selling out every event they throw. This time around they’ve invited three very talented producers: Florian Meindl, Daso and one of my favourite recent discoveries, Daniel Zuur. To complete the story Olivier Weiter and Miss Melera will hit the decks to keep the party rockin’ until 9 in the morning. Just a limited amount of tickets left so decide fast. See you there!
Friday: Planet Delsin feat. Martyn & 2562 @ Trouw
Delsin is an Amsterdam based record label that started somewhere in ’96/97. Sometimes they throw events and showcase some of their talented artists. This Friday, they invite Martyn, who’s sound has become leading for all that’s forward and out-of-the-box thinking in dubstep. It’s been a while since Martyn last played in Amsterdam; during the Viral Radio ADE night in 2009, so this should be pretty exciting for any lover of the genre. Supporting him will be 2562 and Onionboy (aka Darko Esser) behind the decks in Trouw. Delsin’s tag-line actually says enough, “bleep into the future”.
Friday: First Days of Summer @ AIR
On Friday the 17th of June Carnivale and Electronation join forces to start off the summer season in Amsterdam’s leading club AIR. One of the special guests for this occasions will be the live act Guillaume & Coutu Dumonts. A Canadian superstar in the game, ready to get the crowd go wild with his self-made percussion elements. The other protagonists of dance music for the night are all home-grown Amsterdam residents, ready to kick off their own summer in Amsterdam.
Saturday: Paranoia @ Paradiso (2×2 give-away)
Well what a thought out name for a party in Amsterdam’s pop temple Paradiso. ‘Paranoia’ is a Saturday night filled with both local and international house DJs. Actually not your usual night out in Amsterdam, as for this sixth edition of the Paranoia feast they’ve brought over New York based electroclash DJ Larry Tee, supported by local heroes Homework and Cleo. The small area will be hosted by party collective The Eclectic Eleven to complete the picture.
