Ridz, advertises, produces indie/electronic music, performs throughout the Netherlands but ultimately always ends up at an Amsterdam based ensemble... then he blogs about all these things.

Last Saturday one of my top rated DJ/producers of the moment hit our town. It was about time for some decent electronica at Leidseplein’s Sugar Factory with none other than Max Cooper! Based in the UK as a scientist and producer, he was the living proof that these very diverse lifestyles can be effortlessly combined live on the dance floor. His music is an amalgamation of techno, house, electro and minimal, and is best described as highly emotional electronica. Support that night came from homegrown hero Applescal, former “Grote prijs van Nederland”-winner, with an amazing warm-up set not to be forgotten.

The queue outside the venue was impressive, and boy did Max live up to the hype, with a two hour live set and an extra one of turntableing. My fellow Overdose.am writer Rob quoted me yesterday, when I stated in all my enthousiasm that it was “the best live DJ experience of the year so far”. Hat off to the Electronation crew for setting up this event, I know our friend Terry Toner was laudatory about the ambience and walked around with a massive smile on his face the next day. Cheers to that. Here’s 12 pictures for the poor ones who missed it or those of you reminiscing.
