Too many plans for the summer? Let me narrow your options down by suggesting our cities best festivals where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s part 2 of where you festival warriors should go to for next summer’s hangover. (Part 1 here!)

July 16th: Costa del Soul @ Blijburg Aan Zee

Everything around this 12 hour festival seems to smell like a true Amsterdam get-together for the creative industry. With a line-up of over 50 international and local DJs, 40 live painters, visual artists and a location that can be compared to the free minded Berlin outdoor playgrounds during the summer, this can’t go wrong. Several stages will host music genres differing from minimal, techno, disco, house, soul, funk to hip-hop. No fancy in-crowd activity over here, they haven’t even confirming all the names for the event, so if you know a free spirited painter that’s into this stuff, send them a message.

July 16th & 17th: All is One Ruigoord Weekend @ Ruigoord

Another one of these weird free spirited festivals is the All is One Ruigoord Weekend at the creative hippy-town of Ruigoord. Just read their welcome speech: “We are All One. One Love. Love is All. All is One. The realisation of All is One means being everyone, experiencing everything, being everywhere, always. Every day we Create Life Together, All is One expresses this Creativity. Through Music, Visuals, Live Performances, Poetry, Dance, Theatre, Smells, Trance, Art, Connecting, Percussion, Food. Anything is possible… even the impossible.” Basically all creative minds get together to build and express their creations guided by sounds of their residents ISIS aka 100% ISIS, Egbert Jan Weeber, Ajuna Schiks, VJ Dusi and Aroma Jockey odo7. Go smoke.

July 23rd: A Day at the Park @ Amsterdamse Bos

On july 23rd, the woods of Amsterdam are treated with proper techno music by no others than Carl Cox, John Digweed, Dennis Ferrer, HouseQuake, Remy and Dennis Ruyer. Expect the full line-up to be confirmed soon, but this concept has been a success for 3 years now with head liners like Paul Kalkbrenner, Sven Vath, Dubfire, Roger Sanchez, Karotte and our own Joris Voorn in the past. One of the cool things about this event is that it features lots of awesome decorations around their stages which seriously add an extra dimension to the vibe of the park. Just look at their flyer. Did I mention that our friend Arjuna Schiks made the theme song for their website this year? Anyway, you might want to get your ticket, cause this has ‘sold out soon’ written all over it.

July 23rd: HENK op de HELLING @ NDSM Docks

Finally, one of the most popular ‘underground’ parties out there. HENK op de Helling has been getting a lot of word-of-mouth buzz the last 2 years, and that’s probably why all their events sell out within days, as did this one. Luckily they always have a large pile of these highly wanted tickets reserved for late deciders on the day itself. Cool thing about all the confirmed acts so far, they all appear to be playing live on this event. Who are they? Aardvarck, Applescal, Delta Funktionen, E-contact, Jason Lanox, Julien Chaptal, Kabale und Liebe, Nobody Beats The Drum, Olene Kadar, Patrice Bäumel, Tom Ruijg and William Kouam Djoko. Installations, art and performances: Still to be announced. Go stand in line with your coffee mugs!
