So it’s Monday and you’re probably drowning in self pity after partying too hard. Work, school or a combination of both are making your life miserable and the only thing you’re looking forward to is the next weekend. Chin up dear reader. Bear with me and I will show you a world of musical splendour. Every other Monday, I will point out the best indie, folk and rock shows you might not want to miss. Get your ticket, enjoy the music and get straight to bed after. This is just what you need to slide a bit smoother through another cruel week of hard work.
Timber Timbre
Why: The eerie, dark sound of Timber Timbre is both comforting and spooky. On the most recent album Creep On Creepin’ On the band combines blues and folk to get to something quite unique and beautiful. In the intimate environment of Bitterzoet it’ll be something special. A good evening for a first date or to just go to by yourself. Proves Canada has more to offer than Avril Lavigne.
Where: Bitterzoet
When: Monday, April 18th
Tickets: €12,-
Does It Offend You, Yeah?
Why: After taking it slow with Timber Timbre you might want to turn up the volume a bit. This British electro noise band not only has a great band name, but also a quite epic, under appreciated debut-album You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into. Imagine Rage Against the Machine teaming up to make an album with Justice, and you’ll probably get a pretty good idea of what you’re getting yourself into when showing up at their Melkweg gig. It’s gonna be good and if you’re still not quite sure, just hit play beneath.
Where: Melkweg
When: Wednesday, April 20th
Tickets: €12,-
Animal Collective
Why: This band doesn’t actually need an introduction, does it? Neo-psychedelic, weird and experimental, but always amazing. Animal Collective is bringing something new to the table since the very beginning and if you haven’t seen them live yet, you should get your tickets right about now! Not sold out yet, but I bet it will be. The best possible way to celebrate pre-summer.
Where: Paradiso
When: Tuesday, May 17th
Tickets: €20,-
