Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Oi!, the 7th anniversary @ Paradiso

For a while, I’ve been screamin’ that dubstep and grime have some serious renewing to do to stay alive. Luckily they’re doing so, therefore Oi! can happily celebrate its 7th year anniversary. Future-dub, UK garage, moshing, you name it, it’s all in the house this Friday with names such as Youngsta, Trolley Snatcha, DJ Madd, Gomes + Brutuzz and Nicon in the main area and Julio, MileZ, Timeaux & Post and Henzel & Disco Nova in the small area. Wopwopwop!

Friday: Steve Lawler @ AIR

Steve Lawler is a British house music producer and DJ holding residencies at many popular dance clubs such as Space, The End and Twilo. Because of his tribal tech-house approach and successful marathon sets at Space in Ibiza, he has been crowned as “King of Space” in the scene. Supported by his label mate Leon and local heroes Terry Toner, Warren Fellow and Phillip Young, the rather new club in town AIR is starting to get the hang of it.

Saturday: One-way EXIT @ West

Gotta keep supporting your local party entrepreneurs. In this case, a known figure in the rave community called El Snorro is throwing another one of them semi-legal pop-up raves somewhere in an old office centre in western Amsterdam. 300 men capacity, on ’till 12am, bring your own booze, just don’t bring any glass with you and enjoy performances by San Proper, Kerk, Tommy Kornuijt, Ici Sans Merci & Uptight Ed.

Saturday: Midnight freaks invite Nôze @ AIR

“We left them as highly energetic showmen with a weak spot for the tipsy atmosphere of ending house music balls, and here they are 2 years later swapping their colourful electro-cosmopolite entertainer costumes for the no less flattering attire of velvety pleasures and joyous melancholy and a re-emergence of their first love for improvised music”, or so I quote Midnight Freaks. This Saturday it’s time for Amsterdam to get introduced to the sounds of Nôze’s new record ‘Dring’. AIR is set to transform into a massive orgy of instrumental music ranging from house to cumbia, klezmer, reggae and jazz.

Ah what the hell, go check it out yourself, we’re giving away 2×2 tickets for this event! Tell us why you want to go by commenting on this post on Facebook.

Saturday: ONTROUW – Somnium Lucidus @ Trouw

Probably Trouw’s biggest production this year; Somnium Lucidus = lucid dreams. Absolutely compulsory to dress up and transfer your identity and tep out of your comfort zone. Think: Second Skin – Warped – Faceless – Imperfection – Repetitive – Cloned – Transformation – Mismatched. Colors: Black – Skin – Transparent – Green. Bring an open mind, who knows what you’ll find. Bit too mysterious? Yeah, well to encourage this production Trouw is letting every person with a ticket bring someone along FOR FREE! That rational enough for you? I thought so. Find alternative dress code advice here and here. Btw, did I mention OstGut/Berghain residents Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann are headlining? Cheers.
