About the author
Hi, I'm Rutger, 26 years old Amsterdam lover with a high interest in photography and music! Want to know more about us (or me) send an email to! YEW!

Although I occasionally download films, the cinema has become my favourite spot to enjoy a film again, and partly thanks to Cineville. The initiative, that already has over 5.500 card members, started on February 19th 2009 with the basic assumption that there was still an untapped potential for individual film theatres to join forces and offer their quality film programmes to the public under one umbrella. They filled this gap by introducing the Cineville card, which grants you unlimited access to all thirteen independent film theatres in Amsterdam.

In addition, the Cineville website features all independent theatres, the films that they are playing and their corresponding trailers. Card holders also have access to their online magazine, including a densely populated online community where the ‘residents’ can keep a wish-list, rate films and invite friends for a night out. Definitely a feature worth checking out!

But now the news for all film and theatre lovers in Amsterdam, Cineville is celebrating its birthday!

Vive La Ville

For their two year anniversary, they are organizing Vive La Ville, and you can be there to celebrate with them, and you don’t even have to be a card holder. During this event, Cineville will to rock the Melkweg with the exclusive premieres of Somewhere and The Myth of the American Sleepover in the Cinecenter, and some very promising live music acts. How about Lola Kite (local band with happy ‘indietronica’) and Palmbomen (the new promise in the Amsterdam nightlife). This event will be hosted by Curious Behaviour, Het Vuige Zusje and Lime Lights.
