About the author
Ridz, advertises, produces indie/electronic music, performs throughout the Netherlands but ultimately always ends up at an Amsterdam based ensemble... then he blogs about all these things.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: FORMAT invites Mark Broom @ AIR

It’s been about half a year since the initiators of FORMAT started organizing these club nights, they managed to get mentioned on this platform, so they must have built a reputation by now. For this occasion they’ve invited US based DJ Mark Broom, not the least of names in the clubbing scene. By the way, lookout for local talent Kevin Arnemann in the small area. The day after they will be taking over club Münze in Berlin with the same… well, format. Whenever I hear Berlin and Amsterdam in a same context I get excited. If you feel the same you might want to click through to our Facebook page and throw in a comment under this post to win 2×2 free tickets for this event!

Friday: Closer @ Melkweg

After the successful edition of Closer in January, Jorn Liefdeshuis is bound to pull it off again this Friday. Next to his own appearance behind the tables he invited Barcelona based John Talabot and London based Bullion to complete this night of contemporary underground dance music.

Saturday: WTTF 17th Anniversary @ Studio 80

Wow, Welcome to the Future has been providing us with techno parties for 17 years!? Damn, this can only ask for a proper celebration at Rembrandtplein’s clubbing temple Studio 80. Electronic producers such as Orlando Voorn, Julien Chaptal and Quazar have been imported for this occasion. Supported by (semi) residents such as San Proper and Tom Trago, this keep it going ’till beyond after-party hours.

Saturday: Midnight freaks with James Zabiela @ AIR

To finalize, I’m gonna have to surprise you by putting club AIR in the spotlights once again. Why? James Zabiela, that’s why. Not only does he appear to look somewhat like a prince, he’s also an all-round electronic producer who can turn any venue into a fistpumping orgy. If you’re into techno, house, or whatever kids are calling repetitiveness nowadays, you’ll most likely be pleased by the man.
