Time flies and we have another edition of De Brakke Grond‘s intimate indie/folk festival Sonic Soirée on our hands already. I thoroughly enjoyed the performances at the last edition, especially Liesa van der Aa. This time around, we have Belgian banjo-folk band Kiss the Anus of a Black Cat (what’s in a name?), Amsterdam’s own organ ‘n accordion rocking Bird on the Wire and Little Trouble Kids aka The White Stripes of Houtland, as they are referred to in Flanders. Quite a comparison in the same week the real The White Stripes split up.
As an extra, instrument maker Yuri Landman, who can count bands such as Sonic Youth, Blood Red Shoes and dEUS among his clientèle will be giving a workshop in guitar-making prior to this edition of Sonic Soirée. Admission free, starts at 7 pm.
