Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Thursday: Gui Boratto @ Trouw

I couldn’t be more excited to start off this weekend with a performance by the godfather of ‘emo-techno’. Ever since I saw the guy in the Sugar Factory four years ago I’ve been hooked to his melodic techno sounds. Other than this Brazilian icon, Paul Kalkbrenner and Booka Shade I haven’t heard many producers who can pull off making electronic music sound so subtle and minimalistic yet also intensely emotional and accessible. I’ll see you in the front row if you manage to score one of the remaining 100 tickets at the door, after I’m done interviewing Gui backstage. I’ll leave you with a sweet recap of his European tour last year.

Thursday: A-Trak @ Paradiso (CANCELLED!!)

I’ve been rolling my head all summer thanks to this guy, it seriously took me 4 months to clear that tune out of my brain. Not only is this Montreal-born, New York-based DJ good at producing sticky electro house tunes, he was the first turntablist to win all three major DJ competition titles (DMC, ITF and Vestax), as well as being the first DJ to win five World Championships. In 2004 Kanye West recruited him as his personal tour DJ and in 2009, he collaborated with Armand Van Helden to form a disco house production you might have heard of called Duck Sauce (think Barbra Streisand). Impressed by his resume? I recommend you go check this guy out if you don’t manage to get into Trouw with me.

Saturday: LFTFLD 7th year Anniversary @ De Kring / Club Up

Cultural platform LFTFLD (For culture and counter culture) has been doing a lot of cool stuff for the last 7 years and this has to be celebrated properly. For the occasion, Steven de Peven, Zender, The Don’t Touch my Croque Monsieurs, Mulat, Malle pietje & de Bimbo’s, The Bastardz of Glitter, San Proper, Robotrock, George Dechev (Visuals), Jee Wee de Oesterman and Diskomachina will be doing the entertaining. Expect more than just music. For example Barbers on the Run, a barber collective collecting money for charity and a 1000 Drawings doodle session, where attendees can draw some art to sell for charity. If you’re one of those cultureheads, this might be for you.

Saturday: Tierwelt Invites H.O.S.H. @ BC12

Yes, yes, it’s time for Tierwelt’s second party at Leidseplein’s BC12. This time around they’ve invited Hamburg’s house/disco man of the moment H.O.S.H. Supporting him will be Bar27 residents Eke Evi & Erin and local hero MUUR. To increase encouragement for this new animalistic movement called Tierwelt we’ve got 3×2 tickets to give away to you! Comment on this post on Facebook and tell us what your favourite animal is (mine is Penguin btw). We’ll announce the winners on Friday. Cheers!

Saturday: Bla Bla loves Studio 80 ‘4 year anniversary’ @ Studio 80

For 4 years already, Bla Bla have been seriously present at the legendary Amsterdam techno residence Studio 80. To celebrate another year of cooperation, Bla Bla and Studio 80 have programmed a fine collection of redundancy masters: Gregor Tresher, Bla Bla’s main man Daniel Sanchez, Olene Kadar (live), Bas Amro, El Mundo & Satori and Mulder. FISTPUMP!
