After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Wednesday & Thursday NYE warm-ups: Colors x Hessle Audio & Superrauw @ Trouw
Boy oh boy, have we got an exciting week ahead of us. It starts off with two major warm-ups for those of you with the NYE jitters. Trouw will be hosting Colors x Hessle Audio on Wednesday and Superrauw on Thursday. Both parties feature a large (international) line-up with names as Junkie XL Cosmic Rave and Riton headlining Thursday and Untold, Ramadanman and Ben UFO hitting the decks on Wednesday. If you’re off work this week, this is the best what Amsterdam has to offer these days.
New Years Eve 2010/2011
Obviously many good parties with amazing line-ups such as Apenkooi XL, Welcome to the Future, Tweeduizendtrouw & Amsterdam United are sold out for the night of the year when champagne streams like water. Nevertheless, there’s always last-minute possibilities to have an equal amount of pleasure at alternative clubs around this town, here’s where:
Friday: NYE hosted by Wicked Jazz Sounds / Dekmantel / NON Records @ Melkweg
Wicked Jazz Sounds, known for their live musicians, live jazz, funk, soul and house will be hosting the main stages, Dekmantel provides Detroit and Chicago-based disco, house and techno on the smaller stages and the theatre hall brings you space-disco, new clash and house-wave hosted by NON Records. Sounds pretty decent huh? If that weren’t enough, the cinema and media room will also be filled with films, visuals and expo’s. I’d say well worth your investment.
Friday: Intergalactic New Year’s Party @ BC12
Tired of the same old planet Earth? Amsterdam’s famous comedy and club venue, Boom Chicago, is set to transport an exclusive selection of humanity to the edge of the universe this New Years. Get ready to hop through a worm hole, travel at warp speed and send 2010 into orbit! Expect somewhat of a crazy vibe with music ranging from disco to house. BTW, The three best-dressed guests will win a bottle of Moet & Chandon!
Friday: Dazzleville & Op Sterk Water @ NDSM-Werf
Not so fond of traditional, commercial clubs? Pick out one of the two events up north in Amsterdam, either on the stages around Noorderlicht or on the Pollux boat at NDSM pier 6. If you’re more of a arty/hippie person, check out Dazzleville, if you’re into repetitive music on a boat (that will not sale away) go for Op Sterk Water. Prices and line-ups comparable below.
Friday: Dat Ene Oud & Nieuw Feest @ Kelder Stadhouderskade
Still too commercial for you? Maybe the corners of the Stadhouderskade will loosen up the party-pressure with a rather underground vibe of a basement. No line-up out there yet, but according to the hosts we should expect something that sounds like a mix of Noodlanding, Back To The Future and Awakenings. There will be a limited amount of tickets at the door.
Saturday’s After-parties: 24 Hour Party People & Electronation Classics Edition
Lastly, for those of you looking to kill a hang-over with another one, both Studio 80 and BC12 offer the best NYE after-parties on Saturday. Amazing line-up at the 80 featuring dOP, Lauhaus, Boris Werner and 15 others vs. creative retro theme party at BC12, your choice.
