Whilst wandering around in the playground that is Amsterdam, Overdose.am bumped into a new playmate: Cassette Collectief. You might have heard of our new found friend before; Cassette frequently organizes parties throughout Amsterdam. They stand for nights full of warm disco, deep deep house, soulful Detroit house and nostalgic samples of slo-mo. Rings a bell? This time around the initiators are taking the Cassette concept to the next level by joining forces with Overdose.am!
That’s right, not only will there be their DJ’s mixing oldies into jazzy minimal loops, we’re going to surprise you with some mix-tape nostalgia by transforming their sound into something tangible. What does that mean? Just like the with the two-sided cassette, the night will be split in two. Overdose.am will host side A of the night, and Cassette Collectief side B. The experience will take you from an inventive jam session to a massive late night feast, so without any further ado: ATTEND our venture into the offline world!
The A-side: Overdose.am jam session
From 9 pm ’till around midnight Overdose.am will take over the stage of Club Up to make your eardrums ring. We present you a blend of conventional instruments and new musical toys. Better said, a battle of electronic beats and live instruments mingled and mashed together. Overdose resident DJ Stijn Sadee is laying a foundation of beats, and will be accompanied by pianists, bass players, vocalists, guitarists, percussionists and more. Expect to see the live creation of music, which will evolve before your eyes. Basically you will encounter an overdose of a live electronic jammed music by quality artists from different musical disciplines.
The B-side: Cassette Collectief
The residents DJs of Cassette are Bert de Rooij and Simon Weiss. Together they have created a divers and familiar sound mixing instrument-based music with contemporary electronics. Previous editions have been held in the Sugar Factory, Winston Kingdom and Club Up. These collective gatherings have lead to the (inter)national break through of Simon Weiss and his unique Cassette sound, with him releasing tracks all over the world.
