De Brakke Grond presents ‘Sonic Soirée’: a chance to discover new Belgian and Dutch bands before they break through to mass fame. Sonic Soirée is a intimate mini pop & rock festival (a mini version of April’s Sonic Connections). The acts on show: Belgians Blackie & The Oohoos and Flying Horseman, and Dutchies Saelors and Uinko Eerenstein. Now, Belgian folk is not my #1 expertise (can you believe it?), so I looked up some videos to see if the music was any good, and I was impressed! Especially check out Blackie & The Oohoos’ psychedelic ‘Love Boy’ video.

Flemish folk & raw, sexy blues from Leeuwarden at Sonic Connections
Following a successful series of Sonic Soirée nights, of which most were covered on Overdose.am, de Brakke Grond are hosting their 3-day festival Sonic Connections again this week. Like at the Soirées, they are featuring the latest developments in a broad range of styles: pop, noise, metal, glam rock, folk, grunge and more. The common theme between the performers is where they are from: all local heroes from Flanders and the Netherlands. If you are into pop, indie or rock music, go check this one out.
