With the hype around The Social Network passing and after everyone saw the short documentary Farewell Facebook, new Amsterdam initiative Beelddragers is bringing the next Facebook hype to its first event: the film première of “Catfish, the one and only movie about Facebook…” and an after party in Club 8. I think I can read peoples minds a little here, and I agree that it’s a bit much to have a new Facebook film already after The Social Network, but I think Catfish is definitely something different.
I didn’t see the movie yet, but when I watched the trailer, it looked crazy, bizarre, very cool and emotional all at the same time. Catfish is about the clashes, dilemmas and changing relationships of today’s internet generation. And we are that generation: we are all active on social media, we all have an opinion on social media and we are all secretly addicted to it.
So, let your thoughts about The Social Network behind you, book a seat quickly through beelddragers@hotmail.com (it’s almost sold out) and watch the clashes, dilemmas and changing relationships we can end up in. YEW!!
‘Beelddragers’ is a new Amsterdam based initiative that initiates, organizes and selects images in a form of exhibitions, films and conceptual work. More info about them can soon be found at their website.
