About the author
Ridz, advertises, produces indie/electronic music, performs throughout the Netherlands but ultimately always ends up at an Amsterdam based ensemble... then he blogs about all these things.

The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is the gateway to the international electronic music scene. As Europe’s leading electronic music conference and the world’s biggest club festival, it’s the perfect time and place to meet up with international music minds, get introduced to an international audience and connect with new music, new trends and new people.

The ADE club festival always brings in the crowds with established names on the line-up alongside rising stars (who take to the decks as part of ADE NEXT). The line-up for 2010 is again suitably diverse: electronic, acid, techno, minimal, trance, house, hip-hop, drum ‘n’ bass and other beat-filled sounds will make you move! Last year, 90.000 ADE-rs packed out 41 venues to the tunes of more than 700 DJs and electronic artists, and with this year’s program resembling a who’s-who and who’s-that of dancefloor royalty, 2010 looks set to rewrite the rules on bringing down the house.

The Amsterdam Dance Event 2010 runs this week, from Wednesday to Sunday. If you’re in the possession of a passe-par-tout; we made a shortlist of the best parties to generate a massive hangover that will last all week. If you don’t have an all-access ticket, we’ve added kick-ass alternatives for the sold out events. Prepare!

Wednesday: BPitch Control @ Studio 80

Katapult brings us midweekmayhem with some of Berlin’s big names Ellen Allien (DE), Sasha Funke (DE), Kiki (DE), The Heykids (NL) and BIN (NL). Great selection of (minimal) techno’s finest to start the festival with. If you’re into Berlin based music, this might just be a must.

* Wednesday’s alternative:
Lektroluv Records Label Night @ Paradiso for some of that raw electro you loved two years ago.

Thursday: SUPERRAUW @ Melkweg

Decked Out, BNR & Rauw bring us the almighty electromaister Boys Noize (DE), Housemeister (DE), Djedjotronic (FR), Bart B More (NL), Aeroplane (BE), Villa (NL), Joakim (FR) and Amsterdam’s godfather of electronica Joost van Bellen (NL). Expect shitloads of sweat and moshpits, this is how it went down last time Boys Noize rocked ADE.

* Thursday’s alternatives:
MiXED @ Supperclub with Berlin masters Marco Resmann and Oliver Koletzki or 360 & Rejected @ Trouw with Elektro Guzzi (AT) live, Joris Voorn (NL) & 360 Soundsystem. Great selection of house, minimal & techno’s finest in the business.

Friday: CliCK @ Westerunie

Get Physical, AD Bookings, HEY! and Exprezz join for another edition of CLiCK, with artists as M.A.N.D.Y., Italoboyz, The Advent, Michel de Hey, Steve Rachmad, Monika Kruse, Slam, Catz n Dogz and many more. This one gets me all hyped up by just looking at the flyer. Did I mention Monika Kruse? Be shure to guard your front row seats during her set.

* Friday’s alternatives:
22tracks’ 1 Year Anniversary @ Sugar Factory with ten well respected dj’s to cross the borders of five genres, as they do online. And if you’re into indie music the best party to catch during this festival will take place at Club 8 that night with Kill All Hipsters. On to the next one.

Saturday: Border Community Night @ Melkweg

With my one my all-time favourites James Holden (GB), Kate Wax (CH) live, Luke Abbott (GB) live and Avus (GB). This is the reason to go to this one. Nuff said.

* Saturday’s alternatives:
Vrijbuiters go Berlin Underground pulls a “12 hour full power no shower” @ Studio /K, as does HENK @ NDSM Werf. Man I wish I could split myself up into at least three pieces for these kinds of days. Both HENK and Berlin Underground have proven to be unforgettable experiences in the past where it’s not only about the music but more about the in-crowd, conversations, making friends and forgetting about daily routines. I haven’t made up my mind for this day yet…

Sunday: Paul & Fritz Kalkbrenner @ Paradiso

Great finalization for ADE 2010, just go, kill the hangover, you won’t regret it.
