After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Thursday: DOOM @ Club Up

DOOM is a monthly dance night in Club Up Amsterdam, created by NON Records and KITS ZONDER BLOG. It includes live electronic jam sessions with electronic bands and artists from 10pm to approx. 12am (!?). This means spontaneous live jams and something called ‘The DOOM COVER GAME’ where the DJ spins ‘Nothing Else Matters’ by Metallica followed-up by a band playing the same song live according to that night’s DOOM Rules:

*No clean vocals, only through the VC 10 Vocoder,
*No acoustic drums, only a classic Simmons SDS5 or a triggered TR808/Sequential circuits DrumTrax.
*No guitars only the choice of a Crumar Ds2 synthesizer, Roland Jupiter 4, or safe warmth of the Juno 106.
*No bass guitars but only a Minimoog, MS20. Interesting…

Saturday: The Bootleg Party @ ?

I won’t elaborate too much on this one to keep the mystery status of it alive. Secret party, secret location, code words and oh yeah an ode to the ’20s, when going out was actually controversial and drinking alcohol illegal. TIP: google ‘flappergravy’ and you’ll get there.

Saturday: Aflopende Zaak @ Helling3 / de Bunker

Yes, yes, time to finalize the weekend with a legendary protest party at the infamous ‘Bunker’ in the NDSM docks of northern Amsterdam. Why? because the city of Amsterdam refuses to grant the location ongoing licenses to organize parties. Support the cause from 4pm ’till 5am. A handful of volunteers from 3voor12 will bring us a massive line-up of downhill-ism.
