Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Discovery Festival at NEMO

Looking for a night of entertainment with a degree of substance? Then this experimental party might be the one for you on Friday; exciting science experiments, music, art and inspiring new ideas. The musical variation is too broad to mention, basically every electronic music genre will pump through NEMO‘s speakers. There’s nothing better than to actually get inspired whilst partying, eh?

Sunday: Paul Kalkbrenner visits our finest suburb

Paul Kalkbrenner, who hasn’t heard of him? Basically known as the ambassador of Berlin-based minimal techno nowadays. Well, Woodstock 69, a venue in Amsterdam’s favourite beach out skirt Bloemendaal aan Zee are hosting him for their closing day this Sunday (due to the end of the summer season). You could state that the occasion and venue pretty much correlate with a ‘Sky and Sand-like‘ setting. Starts at 3pm, ends at midnight, during which Paul will pleasure us with a hour and a half set. Go finalize the summer properly! Watch Paul in action earlier this year at 5 Days Off below, legendary stuff:

Wednesday: Cassette: where Jazz meets Minimal

Lastly, go kill Monday’s hangover and start generating a new one by having a few drinks at Cassette in Club Up next Wednesday the 29th. Disco jockey Jorn Liefdeshuis will be supplemented by residents Bert de Rooij and Simon Weiss and they will be mixing jazz compositions with deep minimal beats. One of electronica’s best crossovers if you ask me. No? Just listen to this and this and you might just be sold. Plus, it’s only 5 euro to get in!
