After an excruciating bus trip and a very short night of sleep, we were ready to take over London Fashion Week. This was the moment I had been waiting for all along. I would experience the craziness backstage, see the fitting, talk to the designers and in the meantime I would look cool and pretend that I have been doing this all the time.
Part 2: Backstage mayhem
I expected the backstage mayhem at Spijkers & Spijkers to be juicy. I thought all the models would secretly hate each other. That they would try to sabotage their competition by switching shoes to smaller sizes or hope someone would fall off the runway. Man, was I ready to give you guys a glimpse of any dirty tricks going on. But to my great surprise, none of this seemed to be the case. The models were all so nice to each other, the hair and make-up team was composed and relaxed and even designers Truus en Riet seemed calm (on the outside).
But if you looked closely enough, you could tell that behind all those calm and pretty faces, everyone was excited and couldn’t wait for the show to start. Of course there were some hectic moments and here and there I could hear people scream and rush, but overall everyone just seemed happy to be there. The hair and make-up of the show were very 40’s inspired and gave the models an innocent, yet feminine look. All day long I was surrounded by endless legs, wavy locks and dreamy eyes. Take a look through the gallery to see for yourselves.
Stay tuned for part 3, where I show you pictures of the actual show!
