Last Friday I walked into café restaurant Neva with a big smile and a reservation in my pocket… A reservation because there were only one hundred seats available for this evening and a big smile because I knew I would be served delicious food and that I would witness a live interview between Erwin Olaf and Michiel van Erp. Read what I wrote about this event before here.
After the aperitif and a visit to the exhibition DUSK & DAWN in the Hermitage Amsterdam it was time for some serious business. I had a great seat in front of the interview table, so my smile got brighter and brighter! Before every delicious course created by Art Chef Ricardo van Ede (there were four) there was a 15 minute interview with Erwin Olaf about his work and the role of food in it. On a projection screen, a selection of Erwin Olaf’s work was shown and each session ended with a movie about one of his photographic series.
A bit tipsy, a short chat with Erwin Olaf and four hours later it was time to leave. Great food, a great interview and a great concept ended there for me. I was told that Eat Art will be continued in December starring an inspiring Dutch actor, so let’s all eat art again! YEW!

Every time I see a photo taken by Erwin Olaf, I keep staring at it and can only think: “Damn, this piece of art is just…brilliant”. 60 seconds of not blinking later my eyes usually get very dry, but I still find myself unable to turn my eyes away! This bimonthly published photography magazine is distributed worldwide and is your ‘Guide to Unique Photography’. On rainy Sundays (typically a November thing), when all I feel like doing is sitting on the couch, I grab a GUP magazine and immerse myself into the work of international photographers for inspiration and find out about all the best museum exhibitions to visit once the rain has cleared away.
