Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down for you by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next monday’s hangover.

Friday: Bacardi Visita – numero 7

This friday the 10th of september it’s time for the 7th edition of the sponsored event ‘Bacardi Visita’ in Amsterdam’s cultural centre Felix Meritis. I’m not a big fan of ‘PR/branding events’, but somehow these Bacardi events manage to fill up easily, plus lots of free (or relatively cheap) mojito’s and such. I visited one of these parties before and had a great time, so this edition shouldn’t be any different. Especially with a headlining Ed Banger disco/electro DJ like Breakbot. Nevertheless; get drunk, enjoy the expensive DJ’s and continue to party elsewhere with a real bottle of rum. Get your tickets here, more info here.

Saturday: Leve de Vrijheid

On Saturday, the 11th of September, it’s time for “Leve de Vrijheid” (Long Live Liberty) at the Passenger Terminal in downtown Amsterdam. The Moby King and the MS Ameland are moored for a nocturnal adventure in the Amsterdam harbor area. Yes, two boats. Aboard you will find an intimate mini festival with no less than six areas, hosted by renowned underground organizations like Electronation, Berlin Underground, Namasté and the dubbers of Viral Radio. During “Leve the Vrijheid” the boats will moor in and out a few times for an excursion across the port of Amsterdam (’till 7 am!). Each boat has different area’s providing different genres such as Techno, Minimal, Electro, Dubstep, Psytrance and Disco. Artificial Happiness completes the experience in their bizarre area of soundscapes and performance art, and you know what time it is then.

Headliners: Daniel Sanchez, Ille Bitch, and 25 others. Full program and tickets here.

And lastly…

Saturday: Studio/K’s 3rd year anniversary!

This Saturday Studio/K celebrates its third year of existence. With their event ‘K/ met Peren’ claiming to be ‘Amsterdam’s biggest mini-festival’, providing us with performances by Jungle By Night, De Pedro Delgados and The Incredible Stacks. They’re still quite low-key about it though, so I guess this is the place you should be at if you’re a real incrowd member of Amsterdam’s social east-side. Nevertheless, Studio/K is my favorite place to ‘chill and smoke a cigarette outside’, true story. Get your tickets here.

UPDATE – Friday: De Carrousel presents Klapstuk!

Looking for an absolute non-commercial, intimate and free-spirited party organized by six Amsterdam based friends? With a mix of Soul, Motown, Rock & Roll, Funk, Roots-Reggae and a list of DJ’s, this might just be the place for you on friday. Location: Haarlemmermeerstation (tipped by Rutger van de Berg).
