About the author
A few months ago I ran into Vesper and instantly fell in love with its relaxed but intimate ‘look and feel’. A small place decorated in a ‘modern but classic’ way. An all together cosy spot. The back bar was packed with all sorts of exclusive spirits, which made me feel like a little kid in a candy store. As I became a regular I noticed that Vesper is perfect for a romantic date, a good chat with an old friend or to work your magic while networking.
As one of the hottest newcomers in Amsterdam, Vesper has been up and running for just half a year, it is going strong amongst a mixture of ex-pats, Jordaan locals and professionals from the bar and fashion industry. An example of what this atmosphere can lead to? Strellson decided to dress all the bartenders up in classy suits.
But don’t worry, the moment you can’t get your head around all the complex drinks, the bartenders love to help you out. Their descriptions and explanations actually make you think about the many flavours and awakes a new consciousness about them. No wonder that they’re already nominated for best cocktail bar in Holland!
Cheers to Vesper…

Spots: Tea Bar, grab your cup!
I still remember myself walking into the Tea Bar for the first time: an overwhelming feeling of calmth took over and I instantly felt just as comfortable as while relaxing on a Sunday afternoon at home. Next thing I knew, one of the owners was taking care of me. The Tea Bar's serenity is remarkable and it is in one of my favourite streets of Amsterdam: Haarlemmerdijk. Obviously, Tea Bar is more than a shop with 70 tea blends! I can even state that Tea Bar polishes tea's image and tea has finally set itself free from its dull reputation. (..more)
Spots: Little Buddha – the globalization of a concept
Almost six months ago, Little Buddha successfully settled in Amsterdam and ever since I have forgotten about self discipline. Once you pass the remarkable entrance, you simply don't want to leave the miraculous setting any more. A few things immediately draw attention. First, Big Buddha himself in the middle of the club watching over us. Secondly, the enormous amount of space: this staggering venue offers 1.000 m2 decorated in Asian Fusion club style. Some expectations may arise, but you'll be surprised about the way they mix up Chinese, Japanese (sushi!) and Thai cuisine. (..more)
