How thin is the line between art and fashion? Or has that line completely faded away over the years? To discuss this, photography museum Foam, in collaboration with Club Trouw/De Verdieping, is hosting a talk show with some interesting guests on September 1st. To find out how these worlds mingle and divide, be there and be prepared, because the audience will be involved!
The question on hand is a mind-boggling one, which has grabbed the attention of many artists in both the fashion and art worlds. In my own perception, fashion and art are inseparable nowadays, and need one another at all times. Yet there are still only a few artists that have successfully mastered bringing both disciplines together. One of these are the duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, currently being exhibited in Foam and the main inspiration for this event.
The speakers, such as art director Michel Mallard, artist Amie Dicke and photographer Jason Evans will gather around the table to lead an interactive discussion with one another and with the audience. If you have any interesting standpoints or questions, you can post them on the Facebook page of Foam.
In addition to the talk show I am also very excited to take a look at the sideshow in De Verdieping (Club Trouw’s basement) showing work of young photographers and designers whom are operating at the interface of fashion and art and are hoping to become very successful in both disciplines. And of course, to blow off some steam after a heated discussion with the live music by B.R.U.C.E..
