If you want to change the world, you have to leave the hypnotizing grip of your computer screen first. Or do you? Good friend and fellow blogger Ernst-Jan Pfauth, also known as Dutch Problogger, thinks differently.
Ernst-Jan likes to work online; besides running his own blog where he spreads the blogging-gospel he worked as editor in chief for The Next Web, won a Dutch Bloggie with Spotlight Effect, and is currently blogging for Dutch newspaper nrc.next. Tonight, however, Ernst-Jan’s résumé will take an unexpected turn: he is about to release a book.
The book, aptly named Sex, Blogs & Rock-’n-Roll, contains blogging tips and strategies, like his website does, but it also contains a personal story about four years of blogging and what it has done to him. The latter is what will make this book interesting: how can blogging change your life? And with that: how can blogging change the world?
It is not a coincidence that the official book-release, taking place tonight in Studio/K, has a similar theme: how can we change the offline world with online tools?
Starting at 7.30 pm, the release will be preceded by three short lectures by people who are doing exactly that: Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten of The Next Web, Mette te Velde & Ikenna Azuike of Strawberry Earth, and Justus Bruns of Times Square to Art Square.
These speakers alone would be more than enough for me to be persuaded to come running down to Studio/K tonight. However, if you’re not really into books and you’re not really feeling it, get a hint of this: There will be a huge after-party, presented to you by no other than your very own Overdose.am!
Convinced? RSVP here or here and we’ll see you tonight!
