When I first met Lilian Bunders, it was hard to imagine that this petite young lady with big blue eyes was running her own company. But soon after speaking with her, I once again came to realise that we should never judge a book by its cover. Lily is the proud owner of the online webshop Lilys Closet and she is planning on taking over the web (and world) with her incredibly cute dresses.
Some girls might call her crazy, but after having worked for Glamour magazine for three years Lily decided to just follow her heart and start her own label. She told me that she had stacked up quite a collection of vintage and new dresses over the years and decided to share these beauties with other girls. Her online store now holds a unique combination of rare vintage finds and all kinds of new dresses in different shapes, materials and sizes. The store gets updated every two weeks, so you always have a chance of finding THE dress. She is also holding a huge sale at the moment, so if I were you I would take a quick look to score a one of a kind dress.
When I asked Lily if she had any advice for other young entrepreneurs, her answer was simple: Just do it. And I couldn’t agree more. On the day of shooting this interview, she was hosting one of her shopping nights that are already famous in Amsterdam at the Depster studio. I was surprised to see that while she was running around with dozens of dresses over her arm and preparing the champagne and finger food for the customers, she still managed to exude this calming atmosphere, which made it so effortless and fun to work with her.
