The Super Soaker 50. The thought of this mighty weapon brings up a lot of youth nostalgia. I go back to being a young boy, hiding behind cars and trees; on a mission to hit the first random car driver I see. This used to be serious business. Of course it always ended with going back home only to see my dad standing in the doorway ready to preach: “Thou shalt not hit random car drivers with your Super Soaker!”. Got it dad.
But when I heard about the World Wide Water Fight I immediately thought: SPLASSSSHHHHHH, without the need to be worried about any angry car drivers or dads! On the 14th of August from 2 pm in the Westerpark, Super Soakers, water balloons and all other appliances to make someone wet with will make a comeback and make everyone forget about the recent rain. And the best part? I still have my old school Super Soaker; a little dusty but it’s ready to kick your ass with a hard jet of water!
Haan & Koe Kollektiv are organizing this event and were inspired by The Urban Playground Movement. These guys organized the International Pillow Fight Day and made it into a great success. Below you can look at some visuals shot during the Pillow Fight in Amsterdam.
So I challenge everyone to come to the Westerpark on August 14, 2 pm to defeat my old Super Soaker 50 and to make this World Wide Water Fight a wet one! P.S. Don’t forget your bathing suit… YEW!
