Imagine waking up one day to discover that the whole world is singing along to a song you wrote. Imagine having produced tons of mix tapes, having worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry and having your own album in stores now. Oh and to top it all off, imagine that you are just 21 years old.
Musical multi-talent Bobby Ray Simmons, better known as B.O.B, caught my attention with his summer-hit song ‘Nothin’ on You’. He is an artist, producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He worked his way up by producing mix tapes and combining different music genres into a whole new album called B.O.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray.
This young man has been named the ‘next big talent’ by many music journalists, so it’s about time that our humble city of Amsterdam gets to know him a little better. Don’t let the age fool you: this album is definitely no ordinary hip hop. It’s the perfect mix between the old and the new and hip hop and rock.
So sit back, close your eyes and judge for yourself while going on a journey with this not so ordinary young musician. The Adventures of Bobby Ray is filed with collaborations. From Bruno Mars, Lupe Fiasco and Eminem to Hayley Willams (Paraomore) and Janelle Monáe, there’s something there for all you music lovers. Here’s toasting to a keeper because I have a feeling B.O.B is here to stay.
