Die Antwoord brings the dirty raw side of South Africa to Amsterdam

Rob is 28 (but needs his beard to actually look like it), loves music, adventures and spontaneous people. His scribblings are about these things too, so if you share his interests, stay tuned!

You are probably, like me, recovering from a massive hangover following Holland’s epic win over Brazil yesterday. Watching South Africa hosting this well orchestrated World Cup makes us all feel very fuzzy and happy inside doesn’t it? Bright colours, dancing locals and traditional vuvuzela enthusiasm! Happiness! Well that image is about to take a hit, because South Africa’s zef rap-rave crew Die Antwoord are coming to town on august 23 and they represent “the zef side of South African culture”.

I’ve been a massive fan of their raw energy and amazingly cool style since discovering them last year, and I can promise you this gig in Trouw is going to be a intense mix of adrenaline and chaos. Trouw’s industrial and intimate setting seems like the perfect background for Die Antwoord’s version of South Africa, and I don’t expect to see any vuvuzela’s.

This party on Trouw’s homepage, pre-sale start today.
