SIS by Spijkers and Spijkers, who doesn’t know them? It is one of those shows that everybody wants to attend and boy did everybody attend! In a crowded Salon we were presented with the 12/13 collection. A short film clip opened the show and French music started to play in (..more)
Texture blocking is the new colour blocking when looking at Elise Kim’s fall/winter 12/13 collection. Leather and wool combined with fur and sheer patchwork lead to interesting graphic designs on the dresses that vary from mini to maxi in lengths. High quality fabrics like rough silk, and inventive ways of attaching unexpectedly detached parts again are used in several dresses as well as a cape-like back. She used white, powder pink, rusty-brown, light/dark blue and black. (..more)
The past six weeks you may have read about ‘The road to Amsterdam Fashion Week’, the diary that was kept by Individuals. I’ve been following it closely and was expecting a lot from the show, but never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined what the students of the Amsterdam Fashion Institute showed. (..more)
To watch or not to watch? We will tour around Amsterdam’s cinemas and answer this crucial question every Friday. Without mercy, of course. At the Next & Cutting Edge show during the Modefabriek there is room for a lot of new talent. One of them is Anne de Grijff. The collection popped against the all-white catwalk and background, resulting in pure perfection. (..more)
He is known for his anti-fashion attitude, his wicked looks and loco outfits. But this fashionweek Kosters took it to the next level, yet again! Fashionably late and escorted by flaming flames, the man himself opened the night with a telephone tête-à-tête. After an intriguing confabulation, models bounced off the catwalk and entertained the crowd with their ostentatious looks. Energetic music was mixed together from Lady Gaga’s ‘telephone’ to Lionel Richies ‘Hello’. (..more)
If someone is half Spanish and half Dutch, he most likely won that certain kind of party gene by default. That’s probably the reason why Daniel Sanchez (27), DJ and founder of BlaBla Records was already setting up his first big parties at the age of 15. From Thursday until Saturday, he is celebrating the 5th anniversary of BlaBla in Studio 80. And before he gets that long weekend started, I met up with him to learn why underground events like BlaBla are just as important for the electronic music scene as David Guetta. (..more)
Imagine eight fashion people in a small room, all sitting behind their MacBook Pro, coughing and sniffing. Tissues lying on the ground, empty bottles of Spa Marie-Henriette and coffee cups everywhere. The girls responsible for the collection book have got red eyes from staring at their screens. The one that’s responsible for the show’s guest list is walking around with two phones stuck to the sides of her head, while others are simultaneously ‘Photoshopping’ three images. To finish everything before the killer deadlines, everybody’s making a real effort. (..more)
